Pea and ham soup recipe is one of my favorite soup all the time. Very easy to make and ideal week day lunch. Also you can make this pea soup very quickly and it’s full of nutritious. If you have any leftover roast ham, this pea and ham soup recipe is the ideal meal.

I am using frozen pea for this recipe. If you can use the fresh pea, that’s even better. Next ingredient is roasted ham, which is widely available at any major super market. Choose a good quality ham. It dose really make a different on the taste. Finally the bread, Bread is not a part of the soup but, it’s really take a huge part of this soup. Watch the bread carefully while you grill them, ensure they don’t burn. Spread the butter while it’s still warm, so it soaks in.

How to make Pea and Ham Soup

  1. For this recipe I am using a French baguette. Cut the baguette into 1 inch thick slices. Spread some butter over the bread (optional). And place them on a grill tray and grill them @ 200°C (400°F) until they turns into golden brown. Watch the bread carefully during grilling to ensure they don’t burn.

2. Heat the pan in medium flame and melt the butter. Once the butter is melted add onion, garlic and celery, mix all together and stir about 2 minutes.

3. After 2 minutes of cooking add chicken stock and let it boil.

4.When start to boil add pea (defrost pea at room temperature before adding to the pot) and cook for 2 more minutes.

5.Take the pan off the stove and let it cool down. Once it’s cool down, transfer them into a blender and blend it well.

6. Heat up the same pan at medium heat and pour the soup in. Add salt and pepper to your taste.

7. Cut the roasted ham to a small slices and add them to the soup and mix well and transfer the soup into a soup bowl and sprinkle ham and chive over. Your Pea and Ham soup is ready. Serve them hot.

Ingredients

  • 250 g Pea frozen or fresh
  • 100 g Roasted Ham
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 1 stick Celery chopped
  • 400 ml Chicken Stock
  • 2 clove Garlic chopped
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Chive snipped
  • 1 Baguette sliced
  • salt & Pepper to taste
