Wood apple juice is my favorite drink at all the time. Today, I made Wood apple juice and like to share this recipe with you. Normally we used to make Strawberry juice, Pineapple juice, Mango juice etc. But wood apple juice is very unusual. It has a different color, different taste and different smell. But wood apple juice have so many health benefits.
Although its little bit hard to find in Western world, occasionally you might find wood apple at some Asian shops.
Wood apple itself has a sour taste to it. When you open the shell of this fruit, some of you may find very strange unpleasant odor. But we all know that better not to judge a fruit by its odor. The color also not that pleasant.
However, I am going to make a juice out of this wood apple, that most people who don’t like, to regret all this time of not having this wonderful fruit.
Some of my readers might not seen wood apple before. I have included a picture of a wood apple above. Its has a hard, rough exterior and sticky, creamy brown pulp inside and has small white seeds.
You only need few ingredients to make this wood apple juice. Only need 2 to 3 ingredients that you can find easily in your kitchen.
My mother thought me how to make this wood apple juice recipe. To make a tasty juice, first you need to find a perfect wood apple. Well ripe wood apple is the key to this juice. How do you find a ripe wood apple? By smelling the wood apple you can understand whether it’s ripe or not. But if you seen this fruit for the first time, you may not find the different between the raw one and ripe one. Another way to find out this is to brake the shell. It will break very easily and inside pulp is looks dark brown or black in color.
Wood apple has so many seeds and they come off easily when the fruit is ripe. Mostly you can see wood apple in South Asian countries where climate is quite hot and dry. The tree grows quite high and has lots of small leaves.

Wood apple juice is a refreshing and nutritious beverage made from the pulp of the wood apple fruit. Wood apple juice made of combine of wood apple pulp and water. The wood apple fruit is growing in India, Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia and is commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine for its health benefits.
At the beginning I was confused, whether to call this a juice or smoothie. Then I decided to call wood apple juice. You can call it ether, It’s all depend how thick is your juice to be. By adding more water, you can get your thickness down. But don’t add too much water, you will lose the flavor of this lovely fruit.

Wood apple Juice Recipe
Wood Apple Recipe With Coconut Milk
- 2 medium Wood apple Ripen
- 2 tbsp Coconut Milk
- ½ tsp Salt
- ½ cup Sugar
- ½ ltr Water room temperature
- Brake the hard shell and remove the pulp in to a drainer.
- Add water (room temperature) little by little and press the pulp through the drainer and separate the seeds.
- Add coconut milk, salt and sugar, mix all together until combined.
- Pour the juice into classes and add some ice cream (ice cream is optional)
